“I have been repeatedly emphasising on economy, curbing of wasteful expenditure ,” AI chairman and managing director Ashwani Lohani said in a circular issued to employees.

“Full-time taxi shall not be hired for any officer (except CMD) in an overseas country. If any officer has to cover many points that would be uncomfortable to cover by point-to-point taxies, written approval needs to be taken,” the circular said.

Lohani warned of action in case of any violation of his instructions. According to the circular, “crew hotels being fairly reasonable, officials shall invariably stay in these hotels during official travel both within India and overseas.”
