NEW DELHI: Buoyed by the positive response from over 1,000 companies that are currently using Workplace (formerly known as Facebook at Work) including in India, the company has announced it will make the app available to all.

So now, you can chat with a colleague across the world in real time, host a virtual brainstorm in a Group or follow along with your CEO’s presentation on Facebook Live.

The enterprise solution aims to compete with IBM’s Connections, Jive Solutions Jive-n and Salesforce’s Chatter, among others.

“We are coming out of beta with more than 1,000 organisations using Workplace worldwide, on every continent except Antarctica, and more than 100,000 groups already in use. India is the top country which is using Workplace currently followed by Norway, US, UK and France,” the company said. “The more active users an organisation has, the less they pay per user. So $3 per user is for first 1,000 monthly active users, $2 for 1,001-10,000 monthly active users and $1 for 10,000+ monthly active users.”

According to market research firm International Data Corporation (IDC), the revenue of the enterprise social networks market is expected to grow from $1.46 billion in 2014 to $3.5 billion by 2019 globally. IBM, followed by Jive Software and Salesforce, leads the enterprise social network market. Slack, also an enterprise social app, is slowly gaining popularity globally.

The Mark Zuckerberg-founded company said that Larsen & Tourbo, YES Bank, Vision India Foundation, UST GLobal and BRAC from Bangladesh were among the first adopters of Workplace.

Formerly known as Facebook at Work, the enterprise edition comes with new features, including multi-company groups —shared spaces that allow employees from different organisations to work together in a secure platform, a dashboard with analytics and integrations with single sign-in that allow companies to easily integrate Workplace with existing systems.

Workplace already has features such as news feed, live, reactions, search and trending posts.
