LONDON : A new manufacturing facility in Madurai in Tamil Nadu and investment in various projects across India have been initiated by the Caparo group led by prominent industrialist Swraj Paul, with a new head of the multinational company’ s India operations.

Ambar Paul, the eldest son of Paul, was appointed chairman of the group’ s India operations after his other son, Angad Paul, died in November last.
“We continue to move on many fronts in India, with several new jobs”, Paul told HT on Thursday.
He said 2016 had been a busy period for the group, which included the new facility in Madurai to manufacture and assemble components for leading Indian agricultural machinery producers TAFE.
The facility will strengthen Caparo’s capacity to serve the agricultural vehicle market.
The Madurai facility is expected to be completed in nine month, Paul said.
The India operations include continuing support to the group’ s joint venture partner Maruti Suzuki India in their extensive development plans, through further investment in the Caparo Maruti plants in Haryana and Gujarat.
“In our established Caparo Engineering businesses we are taking active steps to build on our achievements in automotive component manufacture to broaden the markets we serve, including railway sand defence ”, Paul said.
