Burberry chief turns 1st woman in UK top pay list

Angela Ahrendts, the 53-year-old Indiana native who transformed the venerable maker of trenchcoats into the 6.3-billion-pound fashion powerhouse Burberry, has become the first female to rise to the top of Britain’s executive pay league.

Angela Ahrendts, the 53-year-old Indiana native who transformed the venerable maker of trenchcoats into the 6.3-billion-pound fashion powerhouse Burberry, has become the first female to rise to the top of Britain’s executive pay league.

She took home a total pay package of £16.9 million last year, almost £5 million more than the next highest paid chief executive, according to a survey of bosses at Britain’s top 350 n listed companies by corporate governance group Manifest and pay consultancy MM&K. It is the first time a woman has ever risen to the top of the executive pay league.
