CIL presents highest ever Rs 2,210-cr dividend to PM

Coal Minister Sriprakash Jaiswal presented a cheque of Rs 2,210 crore to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh here today as the highest ever dividend on behalf of navratna PSU Coal India Ltd.

"The dividend for fiscal 2009-10 is the highest ever paid by CIL. It constitutes 35 per cent of paid-up equity of Rs 6,316.36 crore," an official statement said.

During the previous financial year, the coal giant, which accounts for about 80 per cent of the domestic production of the dry fuel, paid a dividend of 27 per cent amounting to Rs 1,705.42 crore.
CIL Chairman Partha S Bhattacharyya and coal secretary C Balakrishnan were present on the occasion.
