Facebook opens Antivirus Marketplace

Facebook has teamed up with several antivirus software companies to launch an Antivirus Marketplace which features tips, information on threats, a security quiz, and free antivirus software downloads.

Facebook has teamed up with several antivirus software companies to launch an Antivirus Marketplace which features tips, information on threats, a security quiz, and free antivirus software downloads.

In a bid to protect user safety, the Facebook Security Page is offering downloads from McAfee Internet Security, Microsoft Security Essentials, Norton Antivirus, Trend Microand Sophos Antivirus.



"The AV Marketplace enables people to download six-month licenses to full versions of anti-virus software at no charge from Microsoft, McAfee, TrendMicro, Sophos, or Symantec. Facebook's global community can now download for free powerful software to protect their computers from current and future viruses, and content security threats providing hundreds of millions of people free access to anti-virus software, " Facebook posted on its official blog.



Facebook's Antivirus Marketplace is available to both Mac and PC users. Users of the social networking site can sign and download any one free antivirus application per account.
