“Companies are hungry for talented people with critical thinking and leadership skills and indifferent to whether (experience) is 40 years or 20,” said Sangeeta Lala, VP sourcing, TeamLease Services.

Executive search firm GlobalHunt Director Sunil Goel said, “A large pool of analytical minds are capable and have proven themselves for senior level positions.”

Some fields are yough-friendly. BTI Consultants India's head JK Agarwal said the younger lot is more contemporary in terms of views and ideas for areas like HR, finance, accounts, administration, customer support and marketing.

Monster Worldwide’s MD (India, Middle East and South-East Asia) Sanjay Modi however felt younger people are sought only if a senior person is not available — or if a firm already has sufficient experienced staff.
