Markets close on tame note

The BSE Sensitive Index, which opened at 8,913.44 points, shut shop at 8,881.86 points, 0.68 per cent or 59.8 points higher than its previous close.

Indian equities markets closed on Wednesday on a tame note with a key index ending only 0.68 per cent above its previous close.

The 30-scrip Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) Sensitive Index (Sensex), which opened at 8,913.44 points, shut shop at 8,881.86 points (provisional), 0.68 per cent or 59.8 points higher than its previous close.

The S&P CNX Nifty of the National Stock Exchange (NSE) ended at 2,759 points, 0.92 per cent up from its last close of 2,733.9 points.

The BSE midcap index was 0.34 per cent higher, while the BSE smallcap index was up 0.51 per cent.
