Microsoft staff cut signals end to Nokia smartphones

HELSINKI: Microsoft said on Wednesday it would let go up to 1,850 employees and a Finnish union called it the end of the company’s smartphone manufacturing business it had bought from Nokia. The company said 1,350 of these jobs would be eliminated in Finland where its smartphones were designed. The other 500 jobs will be cut “globally”.
