The State Finance Minister, Raghavji in reply to a question from BJP member Girija Shanker Sharma in the state assembly during the Question Hour, denied the allegations on the issue.

The Minister said that as per available figures of 2006-07, there are 2.29 lakh VAT tax payers in the state and among them, 55,718 had paid cent per cent tax while five per cent had done so as per the guidelines.

Sharma had alleged that in Morena, 70 to 80 per cent Vat payers were chosen on the basis of their Income Tax return.
