For thousands of employees who have been left in the lurch as a result of the fraud in Satyam Computer Services, there is an opportunity amidst adversity.
Headhunters and industry experts believe that in the current downturn, Satyamites, specially freshers with up to two to three years of work experience are better placed than their counterparts placed with other IT firms because they are cherished as assets while the rest of the industry is seeing some belt-tightening.
“Satyam employees who have up to two or three years of experience and contribute a major chunk of the company’s workforce have a better job guarantee than those with other companies as the company cannot not lay them off,” Rajesh AR, vice-president at staffing firm TeamLease Services, told Hindustan Times.
Industry experts said that Satyam employees seem lay-off proof, employees at other IT firms are either being laid off or face forced leaves or salary cuts. “Satyam employees are lucky that the government has taken up the responsibility of keeping jobs alive. The Andhra Pradesh is set to get into elections from March to May so at least till the end of May employees’ jobs are safe,” said T Muralidharan, chairman and managing director of Talent Management Institute.
