Sensex gains 191 points at mid-session

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex climbed by over 191 points at mid-session on Tuesday on emergence of buying by investors.

The Bombay Stock Exchange benchmark Sensex climbed by over 191 points at mid-session on Tuesday on emergence of buying by investors.

The Sensex, which commenced the day lower by 38 points, bounced back to show a gain of 191.94 to 15,587.76 at 1300 hrs as investors and funds bought heavy-weight stocks like HDFC Ltd, Reliance Industries, Ranbaxy Lab, Larsen and Toubro, HDFC Bank and State Bank of India.

The wide-based National Stock Exchange index Nifty rose by 46.85 points at 4,619.35 at the same time.

The major support to the market came in from sectors such as banks, realty, capital goods, oil and gas and auto. However, IT segment stocks were down on fresh profit selling.
