Averring that the government was "very concerned" about the price rise of essentials, Ahluwalia said inflation has started to decline, though it was still high.

"From data, you will know inflation is beginning to come down, but is still high," Ahluwalia told media persons on the sidelines of a programme at the Netaji Research Bureau.

He exuded confidence that the measures taken by the government will ease inflation.

"We are quite confident that the steps taken by the government will moderate the inflation. By the end of the year it will come down significantly," Ahluwalia said.
