Tata Steel Q4 net profit zooms 72% to Rs 4,217 cr

Tata Steel on Wednesday reported a 72% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 4,216.5 crore for the fourth quarter ended March against Rs 2,547.0 crore a year ago.

Tata Steel on Wednesday reported a 72% year-on-year rise in consolidated net profit at Rs 4,216.5 crore for the fourth quarter ended March against Rs 2,547.0 crore a year ago. Revenue rose 23% to Rs 34,137.0 crore during the quarter compared to Rs 27,760.0 crore) in the year-ago period.

For the whole year 2010-11, the company reported a consolidated net profit of Rs 8,982.7 crore against a net loss of Rs 2,009.0 crore in the previous year.

The board has recommended a dividend of Rs 12 per share.

Operating margin fell to 13.5% from 19.4% due to escalation of raw material prices.

“Higher selling prices and deliveries gave us a particularly strong end to the quarter,,” said Karl-Ulrich Köhler, managing director, Tata Steel Europe.
