He resigned form TTSL due to personal reasons, the company said in a statement on Saturday. Green had joined the company in 2005 after heading Vodafone's Japan operations for three years.

"Commenting on his tenure, he said it has been his privilege to have been associated with the Tata Group, and he is proud of the team at Tata Teleservices and its achievements," the statement said.

While the statement did not mention who would be his successor, a company spokeswoman said an announcement in that regard would be made shortly.
