"Our customers cannot be at a disadvantage. We are competing with BSNL and hence, we will also be reducing the tariffs to Rs 1.80 a minute from the existing Rs 2.40 from December 15, to match BSNL," Bharti Infotel Ltd president Badri Agarwal said on the sidelines of a conference.
Agarwal said the company currently has about 5,40,000 basic subscribers across six circles.
Earlier this week, BSNL announced a 25 per cent cut in STD tariffs for fixed to fixed calls beyond 100 kms within a circle, in a bid to bring rates at par with mobile tariffs.
BSNL's move was aimed at encouraging people to retain and use fixed line phones.
