World stocks up as Wall St climbs

World stock markets climbed higher on Thursday after US network communications firm Adtran posted a surprise jump in earnings that led to big gains in technology stocks and new highs on Wall Street.

World stock markets climbed higher on Thursday after US network communications firm Adtran posted a surprise jump in earnings that led to big gains in technology stocks and new highs on Wall Street.

Markets were also spurred on by the release of the Federal Reserve's March meeting's minutes, which showed most policymakers were in favor of continuing bond purchases to help boost the economy, at least till mid-year.
