BMW Speedtop Concept design patented: Is it coming to India?
BMW Speedtop's design patent has been filed in India. So, there is a possibility that it will come to India. Only 70 units of this special car will ever be made
BMW has filed a design patent for the Speedtop concept in India. The concept debuted at the Concorso d’Eleganza Villa d’Este in Italy. It is based on the now-discontinued BMW M8. The new BMW Speedtop coupe represents a modern take on the brand's shooting-brake heritage. With the patent being filed in the Indian market, there is a possibility that the brand is planning to bring the Speedtop to our shores. However, nothing is confirmed as of now. Sometimes, the manufacturers file a patent to protect the design of the car.
Only 70 units are planned for production. This limited edition targets collectors and enthusiasts seeking exclusivity and powerful performance in a retro-inspired design that stands out.

BMW Concept Speedtop: Design
Featuring a silhouette reminiscent of the iconic Z3 M Coupe—affectionately known as the "clown shoe"—and incorporating elements from the Z4 coupe concept. Its three-door shooting-brake configuration provides a unique stance that is quite rare now because OEMs have stopped using this design language.
The exterior is adorned in a bespoke 'Floating Sunstone' gradient, a blend of silver and maroon that shifts in colour depending on the light. This custom finish is accentuated by the two-tone, 14-spoke alloy wheels designed specifically for this concept. While last year's Skytop showcased a warm brown interior, the Speedtop opts for a white leather colour scheme, adding a touch of sophistication and contrast throughout the cabin and luggage areas.
BMW Concept Speedtop: Features
The interior of the Speedtop speaks luxury. For this model, BMW has partnered with esteemed Italian leather craftsmen Schedoni to create custom, hand-stitched travel cases that align with the car's design ethos. These bespoke travel cases fit neatly into leather-strapped compartments situated behind the front seats, making the Speedtop practical for long journeys.
The rear cargo area is partitioned into two sections, providing ample space for larger travel bags. To enhance the cabin ambience, an ambient light strip has been integrated into the cargo area.

BMW Concept Speedtop: Specifications
Underneath its elegantly designed hood, the Speedtop boasts formidable power. Sharing its mechanical lineage with the BMW M8 Competition, it is equipped with a 4.4-litre turbocharged V8 engine, delivering an impressive 616 bhp of power and 750 Nm of torque. This engine is the most potent non-electrified V8 in BMW's comprehensive lineup.
Although pricing details are not disclosed, it is expected that the Speedtop will significantly surpass the Skytop convertible's cost of over $570,000. Given its exclusivity and highly customised nature, the Speedtop is likely to become a prized possession in private collections around the globe.
