19-year-old arrested for raping married woman

Police arrested a 19-year-old on Friday for allegedly raping a 30-year-old married woman at Jalana village of Odhan block here. The accused has been identified as Jaskaran Singh, a resident of the same village.

The victim told the police that she was alone at her home on Thursday when he (accused) barged into her house by scaling the wall. She said she had raised the alarm and Singh fled the spot soon after committing the crime.

Both the victim and the accused belong to the Dalit community.

Mander Singh, the victim's husband, said: "When I came back in the evening from work my wife told me the entire incident."

Inspector Bhartender Singh Dhillon, station house officer (SHO), Odhan, said: "Police have arrested the accused and he would be produced in the court on Saturday."
