20-yr-old crushed under truck in Chandimandir road accident

A 20-year-old man was killed when a speeding truck hit his motorcycle from the rear near Old Panchkula, between Chandimandir and Pinjore, on Thursday.

A 20-year-old man was killed when a speeding truck hit his motorcycle from the rear near Old Panchkula, between Chandimandir and Pinjore, on Thursday.

Amit, a student of BA-I, was returning to his home in Pinjore on when the accident took place. Amit was trying to pass a military vehicle when the mishap took place. Police said the victim was killed on the spot and the motorcycle was completely crushed due to the impact.

After the mishap, the truck driver fled from the spot, leaving the vehicle behind. The body was shifted to the General Hospital, sector 6, where he was declared brought dead.

"The truck driver is absconding and we are looking for him. A case under Sections 279 (rash driving) and 304A (causing death by negligence) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered. We are investigating the case," said acting Chandimandir SHO Nawab Singh. Amit's father Balbir Singh works at the HMT unit in Pinjore.
