219 children with special needs participate in 2-day event

As many as 219 children participated in the 2-day Festival of the Differently Abled (FODA) held at Bishop Cotton School. Children with different degrees of disability from various institutes participated in the event which ended on Saturday. It included sports contests, cultural show and a special fair.

Children with different degrees of disability from various institutes participated in the event which ended on Saturday. It included sports contests, cultural show and a special fair.

Action for Barrier-Free Handicapped Integration, Shimla, Asha Kiran, Bilaspur, Astha, Nahan, Chinmaya Ashram, Dharamsala, Shetna Sansthan Bilaspur were among the institutes which participated in the event.
A spokesperson of the school said that the FODA was first organised in 2000 with the help of Chetna Sansthan and HP Red Cross Society.

It was the first time that such a meet was organised in the state.

The spokesperson said that Bishop Cotton's Learning Centre offered a comprehensive programme for differently-abled children.
