3 miscreants attempt to break open ATM in Kharar

Unidentified miscreants made an unsuccessful bid to break open an ATM at Mundi Kharar on Wednesday night. The incident happened after 10 pm when the security guard locked the door of the ATM booth and went home.

The miscreants entered into the ATM booth by unlocking the door with cutter. According to police, the miscreants, probably three in number, had covered their face with the intention to take away cash from the machine.

However, they failed to steal the cash as the machine caught fire due to short circuit.

When the security guard came to his duty on Thursday morning, he witnessed smoke coming out of the ATM booth.

He immediately called up the police and fire officials. Later, fire was brought under control and cash in the machine was safe.

Meanwhile, the police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC and further investigation is on.
