4-yr-jail for robbing man with sharp-edged weapon

Additional district and sessions judge Najar Singh on Tuesday awarded four-year-jail to a Sector-52 resident guilty of robbing a man after attacking him with a sharp-edged weapon. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on convict Sanjiv, 27, resident of Sector 52, Chandigarh.

Additional district and sessions judge Najar Singh on Tuesday awarded four-year-jail to a Sector-52 resident guilty of robbing a man after attacking him with a sharp-edged weapon.

The court also imposed a fine of Rs 3,000 on convict Sanjiv, 27, resident of Sector 52, Chandigarh.

The UT police had booked Sanjiv following a complaint made by Rakesh, a Sector-52 resident, who had alleged that the accused had attacked him with a sword on March 26, 2012, and left had him injured before fleeing with his purse.

The victim had said that he was attacked at around 8.30pm when he was on his way back home from Sector 25.

In his complaint, Rakesh had told the police that accused had stopped and attacked him before he snatched his purse containing important documents and cash amounting to Rs 300.
