Manimajra SHO Jasbir Singh said the incident was reported on January 25, when the mother of the victim called up the police control room (PCR), claiming that her son had been kidnapped while he was playing outside the house.

“The mother named a few people, including Suresh Kumar as the prime suspect. Suresh has been missing since the incident. We have booked him under Section 363 (kidnapping) of the Indian Penal Code . We are working on various theories, including ransom, illicit relationship and enmity,” said the SHO.

The SHO said they had zeroed in on another suspect Shahzada Ali, a woman believed to be close to Suresh, as she was also missing from the locality. The role of an insider was also being probed, he added.

“We have formed six teams to probe the case, of which two had been sent to UP, two are in Haryana and two are in Chandigarh to help trace the child,” the SHO added.

Meanwhile, ASP (east) Parminder Singh said no ransom call had been received in the case so far.
