800 Hry teachers march towards CM's house; halted midway

Chaos ensued at the Chandigarh-Panchkula border as the police of both cities prevented 800 Haryana guest teachers from marching towards chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's residence on Sunday.

Chaos ensued at the Chandigarh-Panchkula border as the police of both cities prevented 800 Haryana guest teachers from marching towards chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda's residence on Sunday.

The teachers, who were on their way to gherao the chief minister's house, have been protesting to seek regularisation of their services for several days.

Protesters were halted mid-march at near the Housing Board Chowk by barricades installed by the Chandigarh police in the area. Panchkula police had also deployed their staffers in the area. This is the second time the teachers attempt to reach the CM's house has been thwarted: the group was halted once before at the same spot.

Meanwhile, the resultant chaos led to traffic snarls in the area. Following this, traffic was diverted.
