Vipassana Insan is accused of actively participating to conspire the Panchkula arson ahead of the rape case verdict against Ram Rahim.

Two months after she went into hiding and Panchkula Police got an arrest warrant issued against Vipassana Insan, the administrator of Dera Sacha Sauda, she made a dramatic appearance before a special investigation team (SIT) of Sirsa police on Wednesday around 1.30pm.

The Sirsa SIT, headed by DSP Ajay Sharma, however, released her after a five-hour grilling despite the fact that the arrest warrants had been served on the Dera. “She was called for further investigation in the August 25 Panchkula violence case,” said Sharma. On why she was allowed to leave, he said, “We had informed Panchkula police about the matter.”

Previously, Sirsa and the Panchkula Police had also launched a joint hunt for her.

On Wednesday’s appearance, sources in the SIT said that they had recently visited Dera Sacha Sauda to search for Vipassana and had asked the Dera management to send her for police ‘join investigation’.

Now, reliable sources said that Vipassana had gone back inside the Dera. SP Simardeep Singh did not respond to repeated calls.

Vipassana had also been grilled earlier but the questioning then was limited to the Dera chief’s adopted daughter, Honeypreet’s whereabouts.

Panchkula DCP Manbir Singh said that a team was sent soon after Sirsa SP informed them about Vipassana’s appearance. “She is wanted by us for her role in inciting violence in Panchkula for which arrest warrant is already issued against her. We will take appropriate action now,” he said.

Why is she wanted?

The Panchkula police have claimed that Vipassana Insan was part of the crucial meeting chaired by Honeypreet and Aditya Insan at the sect’s Sirsa headquarters on August 17 where she actively participated to conspire the Panchkula arson ahead of the rape case verdict by local CBI court against dera chief Gurmeet Ram Rahim on August 25.

Panchkula police commissioner AS Chawla told HT last month that her active involvement in that crucial meeting was established through the confession of Honeypreet and other accused during the course of investigation.

Dera chief’s gunman Vikas Kumar, who is among the prime witnesses in a case against Honeypreet and others, too confirmed in his statement about the presence of Vipassana in the August 17 meeting.
