Members of the Punjab State Aided School Teachers and other Employees Union have decided to gherao the Punjab assembly on March 25 in protest against the delay by the Punjab government in taking a decision on absorbing the aided school staff in government service.

The decision was taken in a meeting of the state action committee of the union on Wednesday. Union president Gurcharan Singh Chahal said thousands of teachers and school employees would march towards the assembly from Dara Studio chowk.

Seeking the chief minister's intervention, he said their demands for payment of house rent and medical allowance and bringing their grade pay on par with state government employees had been pending since long.
