Another girl hangs self on Phool Singh campus

In the third such incident in less than five weeks at the Bhagat Phool Singh Mahila Vishwavidyalaya in Khanpur Kalan, 40 km from here, a Class 12 student allegedly hanged herself with the ceiling fan of her room in the school hostel on Sunday evening.

The victim, Aarzoo, belonged to Chindori village in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh, and was studying in the school on the Vishwavidyalaya campus in Sonepat district. The police said they had informed the parents, but the reason behind the girl taking the extreme step could not be ascertained.

On March 1, a girl, Roxy, had also committed suicide in her hostel room on the campus. A month before that, another student, Mamta, killed herself in her room in a hostel on campus on February 1.

Sub-inspector Kamlesh, in-charge of the police station for women at Khanpur, said investigations were on to know the reason behind the suicide.
