Bansal told the workers to strengthen the organisation and start a membership drive in the city. He asked them to keep a target of enrolling 50,000 members and urged the officer bearers to meet people and solve their problems.
While criticising BJP later at a public meeting in Manimajra, Bansal said, “It is BJP which is not ready for the food security bill as congress is demanding a special session, but BJP isn't agreeing to it.”
Bansal added, “It seems BJP leaders have got frustrated in the last four years and are not allowing smooth working of parliament as well as local level bodies. They are misleading people by giving false statements. Now the people will teach them a lesson in the forthcoming parliament elections.”
He further added that BJP is not concerned with the welfare of people, they only want to grab the power by unfair means. Congress is committed for the development of the country and he is committed for the welfare of the city, said he.
Bansal held another meeting at Sector 50, where he assured the residents of housing societies of Sectors 48, 49 and 50 to solve their problems.
President of Chandigarh territorial congress committee, BB Bahl, city mayor Subhash Chawla and former mayor Pardeep Chhabra were present at the occasion.
