Bhajji on song! Commentators would say it when Harbhajan Singh was at his peak and running through the opposition sides. The tweaker now has spun a disc literally.

Bhajji on song! Commentators would say it when Harbhajan Singh was at his peak and running through the opposition sides. The tweaker now has spun a disc literally.

To open a new innings, has he co-produced his maiden music album and also sung a duet in it in partnership with Punjabi singer Lakhwinder Lucky. Out of favour with the selectors for some time and with little hope of making a comeback, it seems the Turbanator has gone on to a different career track.

There is just one song in the album "Meri Maa" produced by Bhajji and Punjab Ranji Trophy cricketer Chandan Madan, who also produced hit Punjabi movie "Burrah" last year. The number is dedicated to Bhajji's mother, Avtar Kaur, and she also appears in the video. "The song is a gift to my mother and every other mother on this Earth," the offie said.

However, he isn't the first cricketer to dabble in this field. Australian medium pacer Brett Lee cut an album with Asha Bhosle a few years ago.

The crooner says he did this project because it was close to his heart but cricket will remain his focus. Seeing him posing as Shahrukh Khan on the album's cover, standing in lush fields with arms stretched, one would scarce believe he has played 100 Tests and claimed 413 wickets.

"I liked the song when I heard it and found the subject close to my heart," said Bhajji. "I wanted to be associated with it. I did what the music composer and my associate singer told me to do. It took four to five days but we managed it finally," he added.

After being overlooked for the Zimbabwe tour, Bhajji has not lost hope. "I still have five to six years of cricket left in me. I did well in the IPL (Indian Premier League domestic T20 tournament) and now I look forward to the domestic season, to work hard and get back," said the man with a good play record. Hope he comes out with a doosra.
