"Chandigarh is a part of Haryana...it will continue to remain its capital....The union territory is the capital of Punjab and Haryana and Haryana has equal claim on it," he told reporters in Rohtak on Sunday.

Hooda was reacting to the Punjab Governor's recent address to the Punjab assembly in which the neighbouring state had staked claim on Chandigarh.

Chandigarh is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana since November 1, 1966. Both the states have been staking claim to the city as their capital. The political and administrative headquarters of both states are located in Chandigarh.
