Chief minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday flagged off two new bus services under Jawaharlal Nehru Urban Renewal Mission (JNNURM) from Dharamsala- headquarters of district Kangra.
These buses will connect Dharamsala to Hoshiarpur and Pathankot towns of neighbouring state Punjab.
The CM said the new buses with ultramodern transport intelligence system would ensure better and safer transport facilities to the commuters.
“The state government is strengthening the road transport facilities on priority and 500 new modern buses have already been added to the fleet of state transport corporation with a view to provide comfortable and improved transport facilities,” Virbhadra said.
Speaking on the occasion, transport minister GS Bali informed that 850 new buses would be soon plying under JNNURM in the state and fare of these buses would 20% to 40% less than the normal ones.
Irrigation and public health minister Vidya Stokes, forest minister Thakur Sing Bharmouri, urban development minister Sudhir Sharma, state forest development corporation vice chairman Kewal Singh Pathania were among others present on the occasion.
