Complainant moves CBI court against IT officer

A complainant in a corruption case on Friday moved an application against income tax officer Pramod Arora for pressuring him to turn hostile.

A complainant in a corruption case on Friday moved an application against income tax officer Pramod Arora for pressuring him to turn hostile.

Subhash Chand, a resident of Yamunanagar, submitted an application stating that on March 26 his relative led him to meet Pramod Arora at Green Fast Food, Kurukshetra. He alleged that Arora had threatened that if he did not give statement in his favour he would have to face dire consequences.

Chand added that he and his family should be provided security and bail of Arora should be cancelled. He submitted that Arora should be sent to jail so that he could give his statement without fear.

THE CASE

In July, 2012, the CBI arrested Pramod Arora, then posted at Yamunanagar, and an advocate Aneesh Garg, a resident of Kurukshetra, for demanding and accepting bribe of ` 2 lakh from Subhash Chand for settlement of tax liability. The advocate received the money and on his instance income tax officer was arrested. Garg later turned approver in the case.
