Dharamsala DD incharge booked on sexual harassment charges

Local police, on late Thursday evening, booked local Doordarshan centre incharge Raj Kumar Sharma on sexual harassment and volunteer causing hurt charges.

Local police, on late Thursday evening, booked local Doordarshan centre incharge Raj Kumar Sharma on sexual harassment and volunteer causing hurt charges.

The Doordarshan official was booked on a complaint of woman working as casual announcer in the Doordarshan center.

A police spokesman said they received the complaint on Thursday evening and a team was sent to investigate the matter.

“The victim alleged that accused Sharma sexually assaulted her while she was on duty,” said the police spokesman.

Sharma was booked under sections 354A (sexual harrasment) and 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) of the Indian Penal Code.

Meanwhile, Sharma too lodged a complaint against the woman announcer alleging that she slapped and threatened him.

A case under sections 323 and 506 (criminal intimidation) was registered in this regard, said the police spokesman.
