Dhawan meets UT administrator over demands of slum dwellers

Former union minister and senior BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan along with the members of the Ekta Committee on Thursday met UT administrator Shivraj Patil and submitted a charter of demands of slum dwellers in city.

Former union minister and senior BJP leader Harmohan Dhawan along with the members of the Ekta Committee on Thursday met UT administrator Shivraj Patil and submitted a charter of demands of slum dwellers in city.

They demanded that under resettlement scheme, the allottees should be given two-room flat instead of one room, as it was difficult for a family to stay in one room.

Also the biometric survey of the slum dwellers was conducted in 2006 to establish the eligibility of the allottees. But the names of those people, who were missing from the 2006 electoral list, appeared in the electoral list prepared before and after 2006.

UT administrator assured Dhawan that all the allottees would be given two-room flats. Dhawan also urged Patil that instead of rent, the allottees should be granted ownership right.
