DSGMC team meets Rajnath on demand for SIT

A delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Tuesday met union home minister Rajnath Singh and demanded setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of Supreme Court and opening all cases of killing of innocent Sikhs in the 1984 riots.

A delegation of Delhi Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee (DSGMC) on Tuesday met union home minister Rajnath Singh and demanded setting up of a special investigation team (SIT) under the supervision of Supreme Court and opening all cases of killing of innocent Sikhs in the 1984 riots.

The delegation headed by DSGMC president Manjit Singh GK also demanded compensation for the families of 218 Sikhs killed in Kanpur during the 1984 riots.

The delegation, which included DSGMC general secretary Manjinder Singh Sirsa and joint secretary Harmeet Singh Kalka alongwith SAD leaders Onkar Singh Thapar and Kuldeep Singh Bhogal also demanded that chargesheet against Congress leader Sajjan Kumar which has been held back for 22 years since 1992 be sent to the court.

The delegation also demanded that direction should be issued to the New Delhi Municipal Corporation (NDMC) not to create hurdles in building up of the 1984 riots memorial at Gurdwara Rakabganj. The NDMC has moved court against the memorial.
