In view of the construction of a washable apron at platform number 2 at the Chandigarh railway station, as many as five trains will not cross the city station between August 10 and September 4.

From August 10, Chandigarh-Ludhiana special train has been cancelled between SAS Nagar and Chandigarh, due to which passengers (when train is on way from Ludhiana towards Chandigarh) will be able to travel only till SAS Nagar. The Ferozepur-Chandigarh Express has also been cancelled between Ludhiana and Chandigarh for the said period.

The Jaipur-Chandigarh Intercity Express has been cancelled between Ambala and Chandigarh. The passengers travelling on this train will be able to catch the train only from the Ambala railway station.

Ramnagar-Chandigarh weekly train, which chugs in from the city every Monday, will remain cancelled between Chandigarh and Ambala. Indore-Chandigarh Express that leaves every Friday, too, has been cancelled between Ambala and Chandigarh. The passengers will have to culminate their journey or board the trains at Ambala.

Aimed at to provide clean and hygienic environment to the passengers at the railway station, the washable apron made up of concrete would come up at the railway station, which would be easier to clean using water hydrants.
