The police on Wednesday booked Punam Malik, the former personal assistant (PA) to former deputy commissioner (DC) Mohammed Shayin, for allegedly keeping a file of the estate office in her possession.
The police have registered a case against her under Section 409 (criminal breach of trust by public servant, or by banker, merchant or agent) of the IPC at the Sector 17 police station. SHO Udaypal Singh said complainant Samir Khan, who was posted at the Estate Office as senior assistant, had lodged a complaint alleging that there was a file belonging to House Number 3323, Sector 19-D, which had been in possession of Malik since she was posted in the Estate Office. He said the original file was required for a case of share transfer and the applicants claimed that the file was in her possession as they had approached Malik in 2014.
“Following the transfer of share, the applicant again approached the Estate Office and during probe, it was learnt that the file was still lying with Malik,” he said.
The complainant also alleged that he had given several reminders to Malik to submit the file in the office, but she did not submit the same. Following which, Khan approached the police, who have registered a case in this regard.
