Punjab governor Shivraj V Patil on Wednesday accepted the resignation of agriculture minister jathedar Tota Singh, who stepped down as cabinet minister on moral grounds following his conviction by the Mohali court in a case related to the misuse of official vehicle of Punjab School Education Board while he was Education Minister from 1997 to 2002.

Disclosing this here today a spokesperson of the chief minister's office said that jathedar Tota Singh had tendered his resignation to the chief minister Parkash Singh Badal on Wednesday morning, which was subsequently forwarded to the governor for his immediate acceptance.
Meanwhile, the portfolio of agriculture held by jathedar Tota Singh would now be looked after by the chief minister till further orders, the spokesperson added.
