Amritsar, Ludhiana, Patiala, Jalandhar in Punjab and Hisar, Ambala, Rohtak, Karnal, Gurgaon and Bhiwani in Haryana experienced a hot day, with the mercury hovering over 43 degree mark at these places.
Unscheduled power cuts in Chandigarh and power cuts at many places in Haryana have added to the woes of the people in this unbearable heat.
While some schools have closed down for summer vacations in the two states and the Union Territory of Chandigarh, there are others which are still on, making it difficult for the children to study in the sultry weather.
