The hospital said the technology was not commonly available in the tricity. "But this technology is commonly used in European countries to gauge abnormalities in the uterus," said Dr Preeti Jindal, senior consultant, gynaecology, Max Super Speciality Hospital, SAS Nagar.

Hysteroscopy is the inspection of the uterine cavity by endoscopy with access through the cervix.

It allows for the diagnosis of intrauterine pathology and serves as a method for surgical intervention (operative hysteroscopy). It usually takes a day for a patient and doctor to diagnose the problem in uterus, in which anaesthesia has to be given to the patient and a day's admission is necessary.
