Hry former minister OP Jain rushed to PGI

Former Haryana transport minister OP Jain, about 70, who was in Ambala jail for his alleged involvement in the case of abetment to suicide of a Karnal village sarpanch, was rushed to PGI here with health complications on Wednesday night.

Former Haryana transport minister OP Jain, about 70, who was in Ambala jail for his alleged involvement in the case of abetment to suicide of a Karnal village sarpanch, was rushed to PGI here with health complications on Wednesday night.

Jain has been lodged in jail since September 21, 2013, for allegedly abetting suicide of a Karnal village sarpanch Karam Singh whose body was found on June 7 last. It was alleged that he along with former chief parliamentary secretary (CPS) Zile Ram Sharma had taken over Rs 12 lakh from Singh on the pretext of getting Singh’s kin government jobs but had failed to do so.

Jain, who was said to be a chronic diabetic patient also reportedly suffered from various other serious ailments. He was rushed to PGI here after he complained of various ailments including that of blood pressure problems and giddying and had fainted in the jail.

Meanwhile, according to PGIMER officials, Jain was brought to PGI emergency and various examinations were being done till filing this report.
