Joint panel of PPCB, industry to check pollution

The Punjab government has constituted a state-level consultative committee so that the Punjab Pollution Control Board (PPCB) and the industry can collectively tackle the problem of pollution in the state.The 15-member committee has been assigned the task in tandem with the recommendations of the Punjab Governance Reforms Commission (PGRC), a spokesperson here said.

The state’s secretary for science, technology and environment and the PPCB member secretary will be the chairman and convener respectively of the committee.



The members of the committee include the Lehra Mohabbat thermal plant general manager; Punjab state council for science and technology executive director; SP Oswal of Vardhman Industries; Rajinder Pal Singh of Turbo Scaffolding; Anil Kumar of Shreyansh Paper Mills; Rajat Sood of Oriental Dyeing; Vikram Vehmbi of National Electroplaters; Vinod Vashist, president of Steel Re-Rolling Mills Association of Mandi Gobindgarh; IS Paul of Drish Shoes; a representative of M/s Jagatjit Industries and VK Goyal of Saluja Exports.
