Kairon talks business with Japanese delegation

Punjab information technology (IT) and food minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon on Thursday held a meeting with a Japanese delegation comprising Japan's economy minister Tamaki Tsukada and Japan embassy's first secretary Tomofumi Fukamiya, inviting them to deliberate for investments in Punjab.

Punjab information technology (IT) and food minister Adesh Partap Singh Kairon on Thursday held a meeting with a Japanese delegation comprising Japan's economy minister Tamaki Tsukada and Japan embassy's first secretary Tomofumi Fukamiya, inviting them to deliberate for investments in Punjab.

Kairon briefed them about Punjab as an ideal investment destination in terms of enabling infrastructure, government support, cost advantage, large market, enabling ecosystem, abundant talent supply and quality of life relating to the IT and food processing industry, a spokesman said.

He also informed that Punjab was emerging as the most preferred and competitive investment destination for the IT and electronics and hardware sectors for which the state had created "an environment conducive to investors".

The minister also briefed them about the upcoming 'Greenfield Electronic System Design and Manufacturing (ESDM)' cluster in SAS Nagar where 1,700 acres of land was readily available to set up units in IT, electronics and other related sectors. The areas identified for further discussion includes animation and food processing.
