Man gets life term for murder
Local court on Friday sentenced Nachhattar Singh, a resident of Bhutton village in the Nurpur Bedi area, to life imprisonment for murder. Nachhattar had murdered Jaswinder Singh of Haripur Phulre village with sharp-edged weapons on the intervening night of June 1-2, 2012, following an altercation at his (Nachhattar's) house.

Nachhattar had murdered Jaswinder Singh of Haripur Phulre village with sharp-edged weapons on the intervening night of June 1-2, 2012, following an altercation at his (Nachhattar's) house.
A case under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code was registered at the Nurpur Bedi Police station in this regard.
On the completion of the trial, Rupnagar sessions judge Amrjot Bhatti sentenced Nachhattar to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on him. The judge ordered that in default of payment of fine he would have to further undergo imprisonment for three months.
The judge, however, acquitted two other accused Sukhdev Singh and Harbhajan Singh.
