Miscreants struck at two residential accommodations in the city and decamped with cash and jewellery.

In the first incident, Indu Bala, a resident of Sector 23-A, reported that someone broke into her house and took away Rs 13,000 and gold jewellery. No one was at home when the thieves struck.

On return, the victim found the front door open and the thieves had broken open all cupboards and ransacked the house before leaving. Police was informed, who reached the spot with a dog squad. A Central Forensic Sciences Laboratory (CFSL) team also visited the spot and collected samples for examination.

A case under sections 457 (lurking house-trespass or house-breaking) and 380 (theft in dwelling house) was registered under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the Sector 17 police station.

In a separate incident, Satish Kumar, a resident of Manimajra, reported that someone took away Rs 6,000 and silver jewellery after breaking into his house. The police was informed and it managed to arrest the accused, Krishan, resident of Manimajra, for his involvement in the crime. A case of theft was registered at the Manimajra police station.
