Mother of two ends life over dowry demand
Harpreet Kaur, a 23-year-old mother of two, committed suicide at Kubaheri village in Kurali on Thursday. Her mother-in-law Gurdev Kaur and sister-in-law Amrit Kaur were arrested after they were booked under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 498 A(subjecting to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code.

Harpreet Kaur, a 23-year-old mother of two, committed suicide at Kubaheri village in Kurali on Thursday.
Her mother-in-law Gurdev Kaur and sister-in-law Amrit Kaur were arrested after they were booked under Sections 306 (abetment to suicide) and 498 A(subjecting to cruelty) of the Indian Penal Code.
Harpreet's uncle Mehar Singh stated in his complaint that his niece was married to Swar Singh four years ago and was being harassed by her mother-in-law and sister-in-law for getting less dowry. On Thursday, he said, he received a call that Harpreet had committed suicide.
Harpreet and Swar Singh have two sons aged two years and five months.
