Retaining the first position for the second consecutive year in the HT--C-fore Top Schools survey in SAS Nagar, Yadavindra Public School (YPS) has its focus on a positive physical and emotional attitude. The philosophy is that a school is no more confined to the orthodox way of teaching but has become a platform of performance where the child is put through various situations to cope up with today’s fast-paced technology-based life.
“Education is almost the same everywhere, but what I look forward to in YPS is exposing students to different types of environment. We try to involve our students in exchange programmes which are not just academics-based but also to experience and adapt to new circumstances. We are already sending our students to Germany, US and many other countries,” said RP Devgan, principal of YPS.The school accommodates more than 1,600 students and is a pioneer day-boarding school that starts at 8am and ends at 4pm.
Manav Mangal Smart School has also retained its position at the second spot. Though a lot of schools have now started adopting ‘smart’, technology-driven classes, “ours is the first smart school in the city and we have a conventional high-tech method of teaching,” said Neena R Peter, principal of Manav Mangal.
“The outlook of people towards education has changed with the introduction of smart classes. But we still encourage our students to be human beings of substance and possess good values,” she added. Manav Mangal Smart School opened six years ago. It has around 3,600 students.
Doon International School enters the survey at the third spot with 660 points out of 1,000, while Millennium School is a close fourth with 657. Gian Jyoti Global School completes the list. Doon International principal Manjeet Madra said, “We give our students qualification as well as confidence.”
Komal Singh, principal, Millennium School, said, “We have a very modern way of teaching with PEP (performance enhancement plan), panel teachings and special booklets designed and got published by our school teachers.”
