Neglect turns Phases 10 and 11 into eyesores

Two of the areas in the city where the civic body needs to buck up on the cleanliness front are Phases 10 and 11. Residents say they are ready to do their part in keeping the surroundings spic and span, but official apathy remains a stumbling block.

Two of the areas in the city where the civic body needs to buck up on the cleanliness front are Phases 10 and 11. Residents say they are ready to do their part in keeping the surroundings spic and span, but official apathy remains a stumbling block.

Locals highlight the ineffective garbage collection mechanism in these phases. They say residential areas are not swept regularly and that garbage collection is erratic. They have demanded that the MC should install trash cans in public places. Pressing problems in both phases include:

Green patches in state of neglect: While in some areas they have been turned into parking spaces, in others they are occupied by stray cattle.

Stray cattle: Locals often complain of heaps of cow dung on streets not being cleaned up.

Vacant areas become dumps: Residents tend to throw their trash in vacant plots that have become virtual dumping grounds.
