Obama conveys condolences to Manmohan

US President Barack Obama called Prime Minister Manmohan Singh on Wednesday to convey condolences over the shooting incident at a gurudwara in Wisconsin. Singh thanked Obama for his support and expressed the hope that measures would be taken to avoid recurrence of such incidents, a PMO statement said.

Obama appreciated the contributions made by the Sikh community in American society and said the tragic incident would be investigated. Singh stressed that India and USA, as two pluralistic and open societies with respect for religious freedoms, should continue to work against ideologies of violence and hatred.
